Green Building Initiative & Building as Learning Aid (BaLA)
An initiative for maximizing the conservation and optimum utilisation of resources and enhancing the efficiency of systems and operations.
Design of under construction KV buildings includes minimum disruption of natural ecosystem, reduced hard pavement, enhanced natural sunlight in classrooms etc. and provision of rainwater harvesting system.
Adoption of energy efficient fittings and fixtures (LED & BEE 5 star marked appliances) in KVs and adoption of low flow water fixtures for water conservation.
Providing barrier free environment in all new KV buildings which are under construction and to be constructed in future.
BaLA is about innovatively treating the space and built elements to make the existing school architecture more resourceful with higher educational value in a child friendly manner.
BaLA is a way to holistically plan and use the school infrastructure. It incorporates idea of activity based learning, child friendliness and inclusive education for children with special needs (CWSN).
At core, it assumes that this architecture of school can be a resource for the teaching-learning processes.
